A rainbow baby is one who arrives after the loss of another, and a sunshine baby is one that came first.
A rainbow baby is one who arrives after the loss of another, and a sunshine baby is one that came first.
All over the world, families grapple with loss, and it’s always hard. The loss of a pregnancy or infant can be especially so. It’s a big moment, and one that parents and children can have big feelings about. Rainbow and Sunshine are two honest, tender books meant for grownups and children—together or separately—as they grapple with pregnancy loss.
Rainbow sets out to bring some comfort to grieving grownups (whether they have a rainbow baby or are still waiting). It is also designed to start to explain loss to rainbow babies themselves. Meanwhile, Sunshine can start a healing conversation with sunshine babies: those littles that came before a loss and might have big, big feelings about it.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2019, the books are available for families at Amazon.com.
Rainbow and Sunshine are the first books from Brainchild Publishing. We believe that reading about (and talking about) life’s big (and ordinary) moments is important. We believe in the value of learning and growing together, and we invite you to join us. Brainchild Publishing is a positive place, a place for the child (and parent) in all of us.
If you believe in the power of meaningful books and conversations to shape childhood, leave your email below to receive a roughly monthly newsletter with child development information, poetry, project ideas, and to stay in the loop as our new titles become available.
A mother-daughter duo that happen to be rainbow babies themselves, we love to pair buttery words with juicy art. And we love that collaborating on these books allows us to use our prior personal and work experiences.
